REV-UP is a US-Zambia Joint Venture developing a portfolio of solar + storage IPP projects in Zambia. Our core team includes former senior officials of the U.S. Government’s Department of Energy, the World Bank Group, the White House, and the Zambian mineral & energy sectors.
Our mission is to tap the extraordinary potential of Zambia's land resources, for development of projects at the vanguard of the global renewable energy, mineral, and social enterprise sectors--catalyzing positive social and economic transformation.
We seek to revolutionize the manner in which such ventures engage with host communities--acting on a moral imperative to incorporate host communities as significant shareholders on our projects--stewarding re-investment of profits into community development, and building a spirit of shared ownership.
REV-UP’s team seeks to achieve this vision via entrepreneurial creativity, commercial dynamism, and social innovation. Our team of co-founding shareholders includes—
Mr. Brett Shere & Mr. Lubilo Mate: US & Zambian entrepreneurs who have co-founded, launched, and operated successful commercial ventures together in Zambia’s NorthWestern Province since 2012—including the silica sand quarry Olibul Investments. Olibul (led by Mr. Mate as Olibul CEO) has mined, processed, and supplied approx. ~300,000 tons of bulk smelter re-agents to the largest copper mine in Africa (First Quantum Minerals’ Kansanshi Mine); employs 70 Zambian workers; and devotes a significant portion of its company equity to community re-investment.
Dr. Allan Hoffman: Former senior official of the United States Government's Department of Energy (DoE), who oversaw DoE's renewable energy electricity R&D portfolio in the mid-1990's--including solar, energy storage, wind, geothermal, biomass, hydropower, ocean, hydrogen, & superconductivity; and managed ~USD $1 billion in DoE programming.
Ms. Jennifer Sullivan: Former General Counsel and former member of the Management Committee of International Finance Corporation (IFC)—the private sector arm of the World Bank. Earlier as IFC Chief Counsel, Ms. Sullivan oversaw the legal dimensions of all IFC power sector investments worldwide.
Dr. Karl Jackson: recently retired C.V. Starr Distinguished Professor of Southeast Asia Studies at the School of Advanced International Studies of the Johns Hopkins University. In U.S. government: Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for East Asia and the Pacific; Special Assistant to the President of the United States of America (President H.W. Bush); Senior Director for Asia, U.S. National Security Council; and National Security Advisor to the Vice President of the United States of America. At the World Bank: Senior Advisor to the President and to the Vice President of the International Finance Corporation.
Mr. Nahum Sikana: former Chief Electrical Engineer of mining multinational Barrick Gold's Lumwana Mine in Zambia; former member of the grid code technical committee for the Government of the Republic of Zambia’s Energy Regulation Board.
REV-UP is especially thrilled to be developing our flagship Mulonga Project—a 200MW solar + storage IPP project, in Solwezi Zambia. We are honored to be cooperating closely with the Government of the Republic of Zambia, and to be in receipt of funding support from the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), to bring the vision of the Mulonga Project to fruition.
